Damon Kelly – The Strongest Man in the Commonwealth

Damon Kelly is one of Australia’s top weightlifters of his generation and one of the best super heavyweights Australia has seen.  His weightlifting journey began when he was 14 at St Laurence’s College.  Damon competed in cricket, rugby union, aussie rules and athletics while he was at school and took up weightlifting to assist his strength and conditioning. 

Over the past 13 years Damon has been involved in many roles in weightlifting apart from lifting ranging from officiating, president of Cougars Weightlifting Club, Secretary of the QWA, Queensland team manager but the most enjoyable has been coaching.  Damon coached for several years at St Laurence’s College taking boys from beginners to national age championships gold medallist.  Damon holds a Cert III in fitness as well as a State Weightlifting/Sports Power Coach 2 Licence.

Damon offers a unique coaching experience with his extensive olympic weightlifting training and competition experience.  He can pass on his knowledge and expertise to anyone who is interested in improving their weightlifting technique or to develop their strength and power.
